I'm guessing grand owners have pretty decent paying jobs. Their homes are as gorgeous as the piano themselves if you noticed.

I guess for those without high paying jobs, it takes a few decades of saving up. I come from a very low income family so it won't be awhile until I can consider getting a grand piano. I do dream to have one someday. I'll have to worry about paying my student loans first. That and getting a house big enough for a grand. :X

The funny thing... I asked my piano professor whether I should buy a piano. She recommended that if I were to save up, I should go for a grand piano suggesting, "Well... I guess you could start a piggy bank and perhaps someday you will be able to buy one". I couldn't help but chuckle at that. The funny thing, I've been getting tempted to buy an actual piggy bank. I'd like to see how much I can fill it up over a period of some years.

You might be surprised. Probably would not buy a grand but it might help you get a loan for a grand.

Greetings smile

Can't show you much of the room unfortunately, I have to admit I must do it up with more musical features like the stuff I've seen so far smile

PS. The piano has been relocated with the straight side against the wall now... but I'll have pics of that later smile

I have a Kawai RX-5G... it sounds like a coffee maker.

actually, no. My piano was purchased with the house as the owner wanted to sell it too so my parents bought mine for me as a present.

unfortunately, I won't be able to keep this piano much longer because I will be moving back to singapor. My dad has contemplated moving the piano back with the rest of the things but the issue is that in the end, we might have to worry about being able to move it in when we get our proper home so we don't know yet...
on the side, my dad is willing to buy my a new Petrof P131 M1 upright which is a really nice piano and i've never gotten a new piano before

It took a long time before I was in a position to purchase an instrument I would be happy to play everyday.

Here is mine, a Schimmel NWS 213 2007.

I guess I can use this as my introduction.......

Hi, my name is Tedd and I have a piano problem... whome
It was given to me about 9 years ago when my neighbor moved. I started to tinker with it just after the first of the year. Now I am just about finished with the primer book. smile
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/Ambassalander/HPNelsonPiano/photo#5164988924683366210"><img src="http://lh5.google.com/Ambassalander/R626D8yUL0I/AAAAAAAAAKY/QTkjR_zPMU0/s400/DSC00115.JPG" /></a>

I'm married with four kids running around the house. The two older ones are also learning to play. For some reason they prefer to work with me, so I am happy to have the time with them.

I love the that they name board decal says...
"Concert Grand" and in small print above it, it says UPRIGHT

Dude!! You are the one that has inspired me to recondition my H.P. Nelson. I love your web documentation of the process. I use it for reference.

Dance on!!!

Still on the search for our first (and hopefully last) piano.
This is as far as we've gotten.
[Linked Image]

The room is 11X13 and opens to a two story foyer where I am standing to take the picture.
Do we put the piano where the template is, or in the corner to the right with the top open to the foyer?
After looking through this thread the wife said we need to go back to the store and check out the Estonia's. Thinking about 5'10 - 6'1 is all that will work in that room.

I think we need a few pictures on the walls once the piano is in.

Hi Justification,

My recommendation based on what I see in the picture is for the left side of the piano to be along (but not quite parallel with) the wall where the painting is sitting with the lid opening toward the foyer. I think it would be better both acoustically and it will feel more comfortable playing if your back isn't too the door.

My $0.02, possibly worth less.

Or, you could have the left side of the piano along (but again not quite parallel with) the right hand wall. That way, you look over the piano into the room, and toward the foyer, as you play. And as with BB's suggestion, the sound comes out into the room.

Here are a couple pictures of mine. I know we are violating every rule, with it on an exterior wall, and worse, right next to the front door... but we're in temporary digs while we build a house further out west. Hopefully, we aren't incurring any irreparable harm.
