I would like to learn a duet but I don't really know of many except the Dolly Suite. I don't want one for 2 pianos and I would like it to be challenging. It is for NYSSMA, which is a New York State thing. Some of you may be familiar with it. A NYSSMA level 6 would be great, which is the highest level for those who don't know.

Amy, this link takes you to the INDEX of one of the CDSheetMusic CD's entitled "Ultimate Collection of Piano Duets". Its lists a lot of pieces but gives no verbal description of them. It might be handy, however, as a memory jogger or a starting point from which to explore.

I talked with my teacher and I am going to be doing a mozart one. I can't remember anything except that it was a Mozart.
Ak: the teaching is going pretty well. I am a lot better at explaining things than I thought! I will keep you posted as things progress...

I just ordered some duets from Pattimusic.com
I'll let you know how I like them. I ordered the Dolly Suite, Moskowski's Spanish Dances, Ravel's Mother Goose Suite, and book of duets for little and big children by Schumann which will hopefully be easy enough that my daughter can play them with me. Jodi

A year or so back I played the Mozart sonata in D Major as a duet with my teacher, it was very easy and at your level you might be able to sight read it. At first, when playing it by myself I found it a bit boring, but once we got the duet together it felt great! All three movements are not too long and quite beautiful: great examples of music and I'm sure you'd conquer them easily. Despite my apprehensions about 17th century 'classical' music, this has my most sincere reccomendation.

Whoops - just re-read your post saying it had to be challenging...heheh. Oh well, the Mozart's worth doing later on for fun, or for practice with your partner. I back up what the other guy said. I've done the Schbert Fantasie and the Spanish Dances are really cool and a right old challenge. Cracking stuff.

I'm not sure how much of a challenge the Mozart one that I will be playing is. I'm imagining not too much because I think i'm going to be performing it in about 5 or 6 weeks. The biggest challenge is always putting it together with the other person but it should be fun anyway.
