I am going to attempt to play a duet with our piano teacher for the spring recital, and I need some ideas. I have been playing two piano duos, but that won't be an option. I would like something fun and showy (something that the audience would enjoy listening to), but not horrendously difficult, nor too long. - I really like the two piano version of Lecuona's Malaguena, and see that there is a duet arrangement - Has anyone played this? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Jodi

There are some easy Hungarian Dances by Brahms that I'm sure you could tackle. Also, there's the ever-popular Dolly Suite by Faure which would probably be a good selection for you. It's available in a book called "Four-Hand Piano Music by 19th Century Masters" edited by Morey Ritt and published by Dover. It's probably available in any Borders Books and Music (and surely available for order at Amazon).

Also the Spanish Dances by Moszkowski and the Mother Goose Suite by Ravel are worth trying. And if you can get a duet version of the Finale from The Carnival of the Animals by Saint Saens, that's great fun too

Thanks, guys! I have heard "Carnival", our teacher's teachers played it in a recital - so I know I can get a copy of that. She says the Dolly Suite is cool, so I'll try to find it too, as well as the rest you mentioned. Jodi

OOOOOOOH! I could be in so much trouble for posting that (I studied from one of the four and another is an old family friend)! The Ellis Ensemble members do have a sense of humor, and I don't think the outfits came out quite as they had intended. In any event, they're fabulous players.

If you want to really have FUN try one of the pieces by Czerny for three people at one piano. I heard one this summer at the Inernational Keyboard Festival at Mannes College in NYC. At one point the person sitting on the right side of the very long bench (or was a bench plus a chair?) had a run that extended to the lowest bass region of the piano. In order to accomodate this passage, the other two players had to bend backwards (to get out of the way) so far that the audience practically fell off thier chairs in hysterics!
