I'm wondering if I can rent a decent digital for two weeks while I'm visiting upstate NY. I've been searching around the internet, but the only things I'm finding so far are services which have requirements that you have to rent for at least a 6 month period etc.

Does anyone have any information about piano rentals? It needs to be a digital because of space and sound limitations, but I'd prefer a regular "piano" type, with pedals and a bench, and a decent enough sound to play without headphones when possible.

I don't know about renting, but does your mom belong to a church? You might ask if you can practice on their piano, and give a donation in return.

Or is there a nearby college with practice rooms?

Unfortunately, it appears that there's not anywhere I could walk to. (I don't plan on driving in the US. 10plus years on the "wrong" side of the road makes me a little leary! :p ) The idea is to have a piano around the house, so I can practice and then maybe play for people (after the jetlag wears off!)

But, yeah, I'm not finding anything other than rent-to-own or semi-long term rentals. frown

Wish I were closer; I have a digital that doesn't get used much because of the grand.

But maybe your mom knows someone with one? (You know I'm piano obsessed when I think it's normal to have an extra digital around the house...but you never know.)

Shiro, maybe you're the perfect candidate for one of those "roll up" keyboards. You could use it on the ferries commuting to the islands where you teach, or lay it out on the kitchen table when hubby's gaming in the piano room or trying to get some sleep. Just a thought. smile

Shiro,

Whereabouts in upstate NY are you going? I live in Northeast Pa and if I'm close enough to where you're going I'll try to find something for you.

Adagio, I love your P-O sensibilities. "Well, doesn't everyone just have an extra digital lying around, you know, for emergencies?" :ole:

Hi Chick, are you talking about those Yamaha things? Have you ever played one? They look awfully.... un-musical! (ok, now I'm just being a snob!)

Ken, I'm going to Buffalo. Where is Herrick Ctr? Off to find a map...
