For those of you who have experience with many of these fugues, how does no.16 in g minor (Book I) compare with the rest of the WTC? It seems easy(only a few weeks to learn), so would I be correct in saying that it's one of the easier ones in the set?

This and no.2(same book) are the only ones I've learned, so I can't compare them well.

All I have to say that No.2 (having played it) is supposed to be one of the easiest.

It is regularly used by teachers as the first fugue to be played in the set.

Although theoretically, No.10 can be easier, since it is only has two voices.

The g minor Fugue (XVI) from the first book is certainly one of the easier fugues to play, and, like many of the fugues, it can be articulated in many different ways. One should, however, adopt a phrasing and stick with it throughout when the subject appears. It is a good first four-voice fugue for those who haven't played four voices yet.

Regards,
