guitar, clarinet(12years), trumpet(long time),
piano. I've found piano is LEAGUES harder than any of these.

Oh yeah-
All through school I played trumpet(all the while piano was #1), but stopped senior year for percussion. Stopped both after high school. College was dedicated to Piano then later Voice.

I played the recorder in 4th and 5th grade (as part of a music appreciation class - I was really glad I stopped, though, especially when the teacher told us that she once found a family of cockroaches while cleaning an old recorder...).

I also sang in the school choirs, and sang (and acted) on stage at a theatre camp each summer, from 4th grade to 7th.

Uugh! Now I'm glad I stopped playing recorder. Though I stopped because it anoyed everyone in the house, including me. I don't like the way recorders sound, and they leave dents in your fingers.

I also used to play guitar, but I decided I liked piano better, and didn't have time for both.

Percussion - which of course has several piano looking instruments included. I think I was the first and maybe even the last percussionist my high school band ever had that could actually read music notes and rhythm.

I also play the harpsichord and clavichord. I became interested in early music after hearing a group perform at a local concert. I then had a couple of harpsichord lessons, and learned the rest on my own. I built, very badly I hate to say it, a clavichord kit. This instrument is very expressive and very soft. PPP to P max in volume. It strikes the strings like a piano.

I also have an Italian Virginal that I bought about 20 years ago. I've played that in a few concerts and I have given lectures on the instrument because so many people do not know what they are.

Current works in progress:

Beethoven Sonata Op. 10 No. 2 in F, Haydn Sonata Hoboken XVI:41, Bach French Suite No. 5 in G BWV 816

Current instruments: Schimmel-Vogel 177T grand, Roland LX-17 digital, and John Lyon unfretted Saxon clavichord.

I played French Horn for 4 years, and almost majored in it in college, but chose to focus on piano.

Banjo, clawhammer style.

And in a string band, what does it mean when the banjo player's drooling out of both sides of his mouth?

I tried to play the clarinet for a couple of years. I was not any good at it.

When I play the piano, my cat comes and sits on the lid and listens. When I took out the clarinet, she used to put her tail between her legs and run upstairs.

When I play the piano, my cat comes and walks all over the bench, and rubs his face against my hands.

It's cute, but a little vexing. wink
