Hey, i have a lot of midi files of songs that are played exceptionally well by composers. I want to convert those midi files to .wav files so i can burn them on a CD.

Anyone know where do get free software of a midi to wav converter?

No trial versions please. \:\)

Midi is not an audio format, so you can't just convert to .wav MIDI files are simply sets of instructions that tell an electronic instrument what to do.

You have to play the midi file and do a digital recording of it - I usually do it by firing up whatever sequencer I want to use and setting "What U Hear" as the recording sound source in creative mixer and recording it with soundforge.

Krazypaul,

As Kreisler has already said, it really is easier just to record the ouput of your PC, internally or externally.

Again, repeating what's already been said, none of these programs can really claim to "convert" a MIDI file to WAV file. Theoretically, a program could be devised to render a WAV recording in non-realtime using a MIDI file and a soundfont, but geez...! Talk about doing it the hard way.

Try download.com, or harmony-central.com. Typing "convert midi to wav" and "freeware" in Google brings up 200 odd hits; check them out. Try the www.sospubs.co.uk articles as well.
