Has anyone ever done a piano transcription for this piece? Even just the third movement? I'd be interest to know where I could get such a score if one exists.

I've never seen a piano solo transcription of the Symphony No.2. Artur Cimirro has done a transcription of the 3rd Movement for the left hand alone: http://br.geocities.com/arturcimirro/transcriptions.htm There is a transcription for piano 4 hands by Wilschau on IMSLP that you could fairly easily adapt to piano solo. Also, there's a wonderful recording of Alexander Warenberg's arrangement for Piano and Orchestra by Wolfram Schmitt-Leonardy, piano, Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra, but I've never seen the score. Mel

I am very interested in seeing this, but can't seem to locate it. Mel, do you have a URL for that file?

the adagio movement is painfully beautiful. I'd love to see a piano version of it.

Embarrassing story. Many years ago, I was in Dallas on for a court hearing, and I went to hear the Dallas Symphony. They were playing the Rachmaninoff Second Symphony, which I had never heard. Well, the beautiful third movement started, and this little voice inside my head said, "Hey, that's Eric Carmen." Well.
The clarinet solo in that movement must be one of the most beautiful long melodies ever written. It just keeps going . . . .

You're very welcome. Very highly recommended: Alexander Warenberg's arrangement for Piano and Orchestra, Wolfram Schmitt-Leonardy, piano, Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra. Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.5 $11.00 from Amazon Marketplace sellers. I listened to it every day for a month when I got mine. Gorgeous. Mel
