I recently took great interest in Bach-Busoni pieces, namely the Chaconne, the Toccata and Fugue in d minor and the Toccata,Adagio, and Fugue in C. My question is, what is the best edition for these pieces? I bought schirmer, but is there anything else on the level of Henle or so? What are the technical difficulties in these pieces surmount to? (which is technically easier perhaps, even though they are all difficult)Are these viable recital pieces? I have no idea as to how the public reacts to these particular works. Thanks!

I've been learning the Chaconne lately. Schirmer's fine.

I've found most of it to be pretty comfortable technically. The quiet d minor part towards the middle (with all the wide arpeggios in both hands) was the trickiest for me.

I'm planning to open my next recital with it. I think it works very well as a recital piece, especially with the renewed interest in it from the recent Morimur recording...
