Hey! I've been playing for about 11 years now, and I just had a senior recital recently. I would appreciate it if you could take a look at my videos which I uploaded and offer me some general advice.

Here are my videos:

You mean you're only a virtuoso on the piano and flute? Nothing else? Haha, just kidding.

You have excellent fingers, from the videos I've seen. It's funny, I've also played the Saint-Saens no. 2 with my high school orchestra and the Beethoven no. 3 with a community orchestra in Pasadena, CA (the first movements of both). I've also played for about 11 years, and recently had a senior recital. You're like a much better version of me (except I don't play flute). I only have the audio, not video of my playing, though.

Well done, I enjoyed the videos. My general advice...you seem to play loud most of the time (from the videos I saw). Playing loud is most effective when juxtaposed with soft playing as well (if the music calls for it, of course), otherwise it can get somewhat monotonous, regardless of how technically impressive the peice may be.

Are you going to continue with your music in college?

Didn't you play Beethoven's Waldstein too?
I swear I've seen that piano and backdrop before...

This Moszkowski etude is wonderful, I played it (I think I was 13-14).
It is amazing, and has much music.

Maybe it is the bad camera recording, but I also didn't feel much dynamics. You did play loud most of the time.
But, in general, very good performance of Moszkowski. I don't have time to listen to all now, will listen soon.

Oh, also, why did you begin Chopin revolutionary right after finishing Moszkowski?
You wanted to go home earlier? smile
There is no tension if you do that, just take a break and then play the next piece.

All the best.

Abe: Thanks for your comments, and yes, I will definitely continue music in college!

88keysoflove: No, I haven't played the Waldstein yet. The piano was a Steinway and it was at the Irvine Presbyterian Church in California.

ecm: I wanted to perform the two etudes as a set and really test my endurance. I think the video cam lessens my dynamics for sure because 1) on my recordings, there are more dynamics and 2) many people in the audience, including my teacher, thought that the most impressive aspect of my playing was the dynamics. However, I could still probably do more, like you said.

I've only watched the Liszt-Schumann so far. I really loved it. It is one of my all-time favorite pieces of music and your performance was wonderful. Thank you for posting it.
