Just curious. There are some interesting names out there.
I chose mine because I love dogs, (have 2) and wanted something with a positive sound.
Yours?
Best regards,
Deborah

This is the third time I've answered a thread like this on PW recently.
There is a game called ADOM. I play it. I also use it for the potential ambiguity.

No harm in asking the question again. There are new folks here all the time. I chose Frycek because I wanted something associated with Chopin that wasn't too obvious. Frycek (pronounced FRID zek) was Chopin's boyhood nickname and translated to Freddy. As an adult he was also known to his Polish friends as Fryc (Fred) which is pronounced Fritz. Chopin referred to himself both as Fryc and Frycek in his letters.
Slow down and do it right.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeears ago, a number of my clients (many of whom are now famous) started calling me Auntie Lynn and it kind of stuck through generation after generation...

The Brahms connection, and because I like Schumann.

The kid's song 'The Music Man'. 'I am the music man, I come from down your way, And I can play. What can you play? I play piano. (Chous) Pia-Pia-Piano, Piano, Piano, Piano, Piano, Pia-Pia-Piano, Pia-Piano.'
And whenever kids sing 'Piano', they seem to say 'PandO', like the cruises. Incidentally, I chose it the day my friend and I got off a boat and solemnly swore to never set foot on one again.

Let's see, my screen name contains references to:
-- classical mythology (obvious) -- medieval Germany -- an opera character -- three 19th century composers -- a passage from a biography of one of those composers -- a 19th century writer
Die Krebs gehn zurucke, Die Stockfisch bleiben dicke, Die Karpfen viel fressen, Die Predigt vergessen.
Die Predigt hat g'fallen. Sie bleiben wie alle.

Yours? I named myself after a dog. [/b]Does the dog have an asterisk also? I named myself after Matt Damon's character from the movie Dogma.

Because my usual screenname (borntopipe) would seem wierd on a piano forum. I usually use that one because i play the bagpipes.

Mine works on several levels: - It's a play on words involving my real-life name;
- sotto voce is a familiar direction in the music of my favorite composer;
- voce means "voice," and the written word is my voice; and
- I'm a firm believer in discretion, restraint and understatement. (And irony. :p )

Steven The only suitable response that I can think of: "Dang."
