Have you heard about the new Rubenstein pianos? I went to a concert with Eduardo Delgado playing on a new Rubenstein piano. The builder, David Rubenstein, designed the firrst twelve- foot long piano.
Read here:http://www.rubensteinpianos.com/piano/company.html

Oh, Delgado's playing was very good. He played Mozart, Schumann, Chopin, and Argentinian music. The only thing I did not like was in Chopin's Scherzo 2, the slow part almost sounded somewhat Argentinian like it was influenced by all that Argentinian music.

i would imagine the bass have more substance and strength. fazioli makes a 10'2" concert grand, with a price tag of $184,000 USD

The piano sounded like a normal piano to me, but it did have a very nive tone. It was loud, of course.

I didn't know they were setting up new companies and brands nowadays. I thought all pianos brands were hundrends of years old.

There are several piano manufacturers who only started fairly recently (regarding pianos, fairly recent means last quarter of century or so):
-Fazioli (in the seventies)
-Overs (only started manufacturing pianos a few years ago)
-Borgato
-Stuart and maybe others which I forget now.
These make very high quality pianos and compete with the top brands.

Thene there are the various new Asian factories who seem to range in quality from pretty bad to decent.

News about the Rubenstein piano: there are now two movies of it on youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42SK83b4Sg4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPHTSgERlPw

The pieces are not exactly the best choice for showing what the piano is (or isn't) capable of, and the sound quality isn't great, but they are the first recordings I know of.

Perhaps it's the acoustics where it was recorded, but I found the piano to be a bit harsh and bright sounding.

I agree! It was almost painfully bright, especially the Messiaen.

I don't know if the voicing or the recording is bad. Does anyone know of another recording?
