Last weekend, pianoloverus took me on a little tour of "piano row" in New York City -- a group of 4 piano stores on W 58th Street, plus Steinway Hall which is a few blocks away. Steinway Hall was particularly interesting, because it was built almost like a museum, with multiple rooms and hallways adorned with paintings, statues, and various piano parts displayed in show-cases. Half the fun was guessing the faces in the paintings!








And of course the other half of the fun was playing the pianos:





And of course the third half (...) of the fun was meeting pianoloverus. He's a great guy, very knowledgeable and passionate about music. (As if you couldn't tell already!)

The only time I visited Steinway Hall I had a huge 'entourage' of people with me.

They were genuinely excited to take me there, but I felt rather awkward because I knew I was not going to buy a piano, and everyone was expecting me to perform for them.

I played a couple of pianos and made my exit. :rolleyes:

Is the last one Anton R.?

Looks like a really nice setup. I heard that Steinway has recently decided to divest themselves of Steinway Hall. Any truth in this? How will it affect the future of the hall?
