...have you been reviewing your repertoire pieces and come across a section in one you must have played a MILLION times but cannot get through it to save your life?

Happened to me just now, with "Moonlight" movt. 1, of all pieces.

Not quite the same thing ... but sometimes well into the process of learning a new piece, a problem will begin to recur in a place that never gave me any trouble previously.

I hate when that happens.

All the time. Sometimes I find I've picked up some weird fingering that I wasn't doing when I knew it really well. Sometimes, I just forget the places that were originally a challenge. It really frustrates me because I'm currently trying to recreate a working repetoire from past and current music.

My problem is the fact that I've always rushed to learn the next piece of music because there is so much I love and want to learn. I've left many, many finished pieces behind and they're become covered with dust as I forged ahead. My teacher says I'm like a kid in a toy store, rushing from bright new toy to bright new toy. I've got a huge repetoire of rusty pieces.

Anyway, I'm finding I can smooth out the rough spots pretty quickly by playing the piece through slowly and reworking the mistakes. I'm very pleased that the music seems to come back quickly if I have the patience to plod through them. Just this week, I promised myself that I would devote one day a week to reviving old stuff.

Steven, I find I have this problem too. Again, it's usually due to weird fingering that mysteriously slips in.
