Great job Matt. I agree with the others here. You'll be going places someday.

Try sitting on the edge of the bench instead of the middle. This will help in your movement.

John

It wasn't your first competition, was it? Just the first time on YouTube, right?

I thought you played beautifully. Please add more videos to YouTube. They don't have to be from competition! Tell all those people above that you have the lumbar slouch because you're so tall... smile

I thought your performance was very good and it's obvious you are *very* talented. Did the judges mention anything else of interest besides rushing at some technically difficult spots(or maybe that was your own conclusion?)?

What kind of piano did you play? And finally does your screen name mean you are a Debussy fan?

Regards,
PL

Thanks.

The technically difficult rushing was a comment that I myself made. One of the judges marked me down a little for stage presence not totally there. He told me that I really looked like I enjoyed it but I didn't acknowledge my audience enough.

I love to listen to Debussy, playing him is well.. uhhmm...

Thanks everybody.

The scores of the competitors were released.

I came in 3rd out of 14. For me this was a prize far greater than winner, it was a truely great experience. Since the competition was open to musicians 12-21 there were people with twice as much musical experience as me.

My teacher told me she was very VERY proud of me and that essintially made my MONTH not just day.

I thought the performance was excellent. When I posted a comment, though, it turned up under the youtubename of a houseguest who had stayed with me a month ago. Go figure.

Congratulations!
It is a very good performance, keep up the good work!

Did you play the whole concerto? If so, can you upload the other movements too? I would like to listen to it all! smile

Nope ecm, I have the first movement down but my teacher said to bag this one and move on to a "stronger" concerto. This concerto is a real baby compared to the major concertos.

Very impressive, Matt!

It must have been very uncomfortable to be sitting there twiddling your thumbs waiting. ;-)

Your playing was very clean and precise. Your hands looked very relaxed while your fingers flew over the keys.

Be proud!
