I have a friend on the board of the Plano Symphony with me who is a collector of original scores. He has a manuscript by Saint-Saens for 2 pianos entitled Grand Valse de Concert. We can't find this piece listed anywhere and are thinking (hoping!) that this might be a lost piece waiting for a world premiere. So my question - have any of you heard of this piece? Andrew?

Thanks Alex

I believe that it is a transcription of a one-piano solo piece by the same title. Unfortunately, I've only heard the solo version, but I'm going to the music library at school today and will see if I can dig up the score or any publishing info for you if no one else already has it.

Edit:

You actually may have a world premiere on your hands; I couldn't find any mention of it in complete works lists in the bios or a copy of the score in out library index.

No, Alex. I have not heard of this piece. I remember prior to the CD era VoxBox produced Saint-Saens complete piano music across several 3-LP boxes. At the time I was a poor college student I spotted them in a local used Book/Music store. They're, I remember, in mint condition. Now I regretted not plunking down the money to grab them. Just wonder if that series has the piece you mentioned...

Never heard of it Alex, but I've found this link:

Guess you'll have to buy it or find it in the library though \:\(

Sounds interesting. Not that I know anything about it, but I live in Plano too, and I have heard and played with the Plano Symphony a few times. Tell him to keep up the good work, and hope he finds the score, ok, Alex?

Diarmuid,

That looks like a good source. Any of you college students out there, can you maybe please check your libraries to see if you have the book?

I'm still hoping that it's a find!

aznlilies2001,

First, what kind of identifier is aznlilies2001? Also, I need season ticket subscibers for PSO.

Alex

Ahhhhhhh, not only do you now spell Liszt's name with an "x" (Lixt???????), but you don't read my posts. \:D

I looked for it at school and couldn't find it; either mention of it in complete works lists or in bios.

Follow this link:

Looks like it hasn't been published yet, but is due very soon. Pretty expensive though!

Brendxn,

Not true. As great as the library at CCM is (probably the greatest music library in the whole darn world ;\) ), I was asking for others to see if their library had the above mentioned book that I now see is not published yet.
