#40548 - 03/31/07 10:00 AM Question about string cover

I received my Edwards string cover yesterday for my Steinway B. After installing it, I wasn't sure the cover and the battens are completely kept away from the string towards the tail of the piano. Towards the front of the piano with the first 4 battens, they get to rest on the plate struts, which are pretty tall so the cover isn't touching the strings. However, for the last 2 battens towards the tail of the piano, they don't get to sit on the high struts, but only on very short pins where the strings are attached to. If the cover touches the sting (due to the short pins), will it hurt the piano, especially when playing? For those of you who have the covers, does your cover and the battens at the tail rest on the pins as well?

Pianos often squeak when they are hurt. :p
