Hey, i recently have been asked to play a song for this one girl that i havent seen in a long time and well...i'm sort of nervous. she's coming over from California and she and her parents are spending the upcoming weekend at our house. Do you guys know any good songs(sort of "romantic" in a way) that i can play? something that is attractive to a girl i guess you could say. a "girl pleaser".... i hope you guys know what i mean. A couple of suggustions would be much appreciated. I'm pretty flexible as to the difficulty of the song. Just any difficult can do for me, hard or easy, as long as it has it's appeal. ( Although i doubt most romantic songs are difficult anyways)

I'm the worlds worst guitarist and "Help me make it through the night" hasn't failed me yet. Such a shame her parents are coming as well.

Liebestraum No 3 by Liszt.
A romantic girl-piece, and a technical show-off opportunity, all in one. You can't lose.

Well, it kinda depends on if you want to play a classical piece or a Contemporary piece.
Here are my suggestions for classical: Moonlight sonata first mov.(not so impressive, but romantic, Etude no.3 op.10 (lyrical and showy), Chopin nocturnes (all of them are pretty romantic), Liszt Liebestraumes or consolations (liebestraumes more showy than consolations), Chopin ballades (not sure if you can learn them in time), Rach prelude in D op.23 (romantic).
Good Luck!

That rach prelude in D Op. 23 is one of the most romantic songs i have ever heard from him. She's more interested in classical music, she's plays piano but only for 2 years, so i guess a showy presentation would help out. I did think about liszt's libenstrum and maybe some chopin songs. I sort of kept those in mind but thanks for that one rach prelude. If anyone else have any otehr suggustions besides the ones i have in mind, i would like to here it and thanks for all your ideas so far.

Chopin's Nocturne Op 9 No 1 or 2. The second part of Beethoven's Pathétique sonata. If you want something from this time, try the piano transcription of "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by David Lanz (believe me, that'll work ) I've got a complete scan of this song, if you want I could mail it to you so you can try it. Some other things you can try : Jon Schmidt : http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/35/jon_schmidt__classical_ne.html Be sure to listen to the following songs : Passages (This'll work just as well ) Winter Wind All of me (if you want to be impressive ) Falling in Love Prelude in C I Do (with vocals if you like...) You can buy the scores on www.jonschmidt.com They are very cheap and in PDF format, once you've paid (with credit card) you can immediately download them. Michiel

Are you seeking a classical piece or a "song". I play a jazzy version of the Sinatra classic "The Way You Look Tonight" that is my ace in the hole for these situations...

I agree. Some Jerome Kern might be just the ticket.

Okay, I'm female, and the biggest turnons to me are starting from the biggest: 1 Liszt Lieberstraum (it's beautiful and impressive) 2 Chopin Nocturne in Eflat (it's so darn romantic) I started to go on but those two are all I'd need. Shhhhhhhh! Don't tell my boyfriend. He still hasn't figured that out.

Some other romantic pieces: Unisuspiro by liszt, My darling/My joy, by chopin trancribed for piano by liszt (one of my favorites: showy and beautiful), arabesque, the girl with the flaxen hair, both by debussy, prelude no.6 by Rach. You can get most of these at www.sheetmusicarchive.net
