haven't posted here in a long, long, while...anyone still remember me?

Anyway, just wanted to tell all of you that my first piano recital is coming up. Programme is as follows:

No. 2, The street awakens
No. 3, Arrival of the guests
No. 4, The young Juliet
No. 7, Friar Laurence
No. 9, Dance of the girls with lilies
No. 10, Romeo bids Juliet farewell

GABRIEL FAURÉ (1845 – 1924)
Les berceaux, Op. 23 No. 1
Au bord de l’eau, Op. 8 No. 1

CLAUDE DEBUSSY (1862 – 1918)
from Préludes, Deuxième Livre, L. 123
V. Bruyères
VI. “General Lavine” – excentric
Rêverie

PYOTR ILYICH TCHAIKOVSKY (1840 – 1893)
from The Seasons, Op. 37a
No. 1, January: At the fireside
No. 5, May: Starlight nights
No. 6, June: Barcarolle
No. 12, December: Christmas

It's scheduled for the 5th of September, 3.30pm. So far it's been tremendously exciting trying to prepare for it. I'm very nervous too. Wish me luck, people! Also want to thank all the people on this forum - you guys have contributed immensely to my musical development...haha!

Lastly, if there are any Singaporeans here, the concert is at YMS, tickets at $7. Email mohjunk@hotmail.com if you want to attend.

Oh and out of curiosity I was wondering how long did it take you to learn and perfect the bach-busoni bwv639 because I'm putting the finishing touches on mine now

Requiem: BWV 639, well, it's not very difficult technically but it's rather difficult to pull off musically. A lot of times I play it with too much emotion, and there are an equal number of times when it sounds too cold. But to just learn it, and get the notes right, it took me maybe a couple of hours.

Skeletony: yeah YMS (Young Musicians' Society) is on Waterloo Street. No. 54 to be exact. Nearest MRT station is either city hall or dhoby ghaut. For tickets, email me: mohjunk@hotmail.com.

Thanks for all the luck everyone!

Wow only a few hours to learn BWV 639? I mean granted notwithstanding playing musically, the piece is technically easy and I can sightread through it in a couple of minutes but how do you memorize the whole thing in a couple hours? Unless you're not referring to memorization because even if a piece is really easy, to get it down in my memory for some reason it still takes a few days of repeated playing.

Mohan-

Best wishes for your debut. Looks like a really interesting program.

And your web page... Do you really want to keep all of those 2003 listings there?

To those in Singapore, YMS is a good place to know. Many ABRSM exams are held there, so you never know when you might have to go there!

thank you everyone!

Palindrome: I used to update it when I had the time, but I don't have the time anymore so the site just remained stagnant...I'd love to get back to it someday but searching out all those concerts...it's just too time-consuming.
