Where can i find a free place to download vladimir horowitz video? I'm mostly interested in finding a video where it shows him playing rachmaninoff piano concerto No.3.

I don't know where you can download the entire video, but the VHS on Deutsche Grammophon is available through most online retailers. There is also a DVD version which pops up on E-bay from time to time. The seller ships from Hong Kong, but he's reliable and the DVD is Region 0, so it's playable on all DVD players.

The composers want performers be imaginative, in the direction of their thinking--not just robots, who execute orders.

A free download would undoubtedly be a copyright violation. I suspect that's the case with the Hong Kong DVD, too. I don't understand why anyone who pretends to admire Horowitz would want to steal from his estate by taking his performance without paying for it.

I always see the VHS of that here in the NYC tower records, so I am sure there are stores, online or off, that sell it. (19.95 I believe)

BDB, the Rachmaninoff Third DVD is released by Deutsche Grammophon. It was not released in the United States, but is playable on American players.

The only piracted Horowitz videos making the rounds are the 1968 TV concert, the 1978 White House Recital (which is available through the Jimmy Carter Library), and the disastrous 1983 Tokyo concert.

Krazypaul, why not do the right thing? Shell out $20 and support the Classical Music industry, and by doing so cast your vote in Horowitz's memory for his continued presence in record stores.
