The best, but not family friendly, is http://dasdc.net .
Cherub_Rocker here is trying to start http://pimpmypiano.com
If you want to see stupid questions like "I just started playing, help me play Rach 3," go to http://pianostreet.com/smf/index.php.
whitekeys.com is a website by Thracozaag.

pianosociety is also a good site.

No, I wouldn't say it's particularly "family friendly"!

I've looked at pianostreet, but have found it generally inferior -and redundant- to Piano World. I've never had any desire to join.

As for exasperating Rach 3 questions, alas, they come up here too.

That's a fun site -I'm a member- but primarily for people interested in rare, unusual scores. Most mainstream, but PD, scores can be found at IMSLP.

Certainly not, but the number of those who are not fine musicians is close to 0 (Comme comes to mind as an exception), as the weak and naive are either frightened away, intimidated, cursed away, grossed out, or, most frequently, BANNED.

I won't name names, but some of your most elite members here are one of them.

I haven't spent any time to speak of at that site, but I'm curious how they can tell whether someone is a fine musician (as opposed to merely knowledgeable).

Holy crap, I just hit that site and it's one of the rudest/ crudest forums I've seen. 4-lettah words and political incorrectness abound! The heavy metal forums I like to visit aren't even close to being that rough! eek

cherub-rocker is only imitating the style in which some people post on that site.

It is interesting that the very type of people many would stereotype as sophisticated and maybe even elitist are capable of writing like that. It doesn't bother me, though, other than that it's not so easy to comprehend sometimes.

Whatever. What is the point of spending time on a site like that? It's immature regardless of whether or not sophisticated people do that or not. I'd rather have an intelligent conversation and not sound like an IDIOT.

I didn't hate SDC. I thought it was pretty cool, actually, and I wanted to like it.

Unfortunately, though, so many of the posts are in that stylized language—I'm so clueless that I don't even know what it's called!—that it's a chore for me to read them.

The point of language is communication, so I might as well stick to communicating in a language I already know.

I'd hardly call it a stylized language.
