Dear all,

I am contemplating beginning work on Beethoven's Opus 109 Sonata, after hearing it the other day and remembering how utterly gorgeous it is. smile

Has anyone here played this work? And of so, what are some suggestions, warnings or comments you might like to give me before I start?

Also, anyone who has read any of my previous posts would know that I have a very annoyingly small hand - barely an octave stretch. Do you think it will be possible to play this piece - will some "cheating" with the trills near the end be unforgiveable?

Thanks,
Aura

cheers

Aura

Sonata No. 30. The 3rd mvmt begins with a very familiar theme you're sure to recognize (at the "Andante, molto cantabile ed espressivo"). It is then followed by 6 variations of the theme.

Hi Aura,

Good luck with the piece, it's a real beauty. I played it years ago so can't remember much only that it has divine and spiritual characters. I had difficulties with the trills initially, but you could overcome that by practicing the melody line with the rhytmic exercises, stopping on the main notes of the melody.

Hope this works for you.

Cheers!
