Well, I finally have learned Brahms Hungarian Dance #7, which I understand is the easiest. Would like to learn another, and wonder if anyone can recommend one for someone with limited technical ability.
Some of them are absolutely formidable, and far beyond my technical ability. In reading through them I think I might be able to learn #1 or #5, as at least I can read through them and so far have not seen anything that, with diligence and much practice I cannot do.
Is either of these good for me to try, or is there one that may be easier (relatively speaking) ?

I looked over the Dvorak Slavonic dances,and they seem much harder than the Brahms. If any of you have any suggestions about which of the Dvorak is a good one to start with, I would appreciate that information also. Gaby tu

#1 has a lot of fast bass jumps, when i saw my teacher playing it. so, if you can handle that, then you should be able to learn it.

Thanks Signa, I saw those leaps. If I decide on #1, I can see where I will have to deal with those first, and then tackle the other sections.

With #7, I had to memorize the composition in order to be able to look at the keyboard to see where my hands were landing.

That is one thing about Brahms. He sure like to use the entire keyboard from top to bottom.

Yes Loki. I have the arrangements for one person. It is Schirmer's, Vol 1981, and has all ten of the Hungarian Dances. I also have the 3 volume set of Brahms works which includes the Hungarian Dances. Easier to prop the small Schirmer's edition on the piano, so I am working from it.

Even though it is arranged for one person, some of measures are so fromidable that one needs an extra set of hands. Gaby Tu

I tried a bit of #1. Wow. that is really not the best one for me. There is a lot going on it. So, I tried #5. I think I will be able to learn this one a lot easier than #1. Wish there was a list of them in order of difficulty. Gaby tu

Yes Signa. It sure is. #5 seems much easier. Also, I think it will be easier than #1 to memorize,which will enable me to look to see where my hands are landing. That is what I had to do with #7. Gaby tu
