Hello to all! I had a particular question about measure 28! (This is the PRESTO section!)I'm trying to make a very noticeable contrast between the Allegro section and Presto. Allegro will probably be as slow as M.M. 90 or maybe m.m 95... I heard a recording in which Friedrich Gulda, had such a brillant contrast, that I wanted my piece to be as moving as his was....

i like the following fingering better, because your RH wouldn't shift at all on bar 28:

RH bar 28: 434 5323 1323 4212 | 1.....

LH 232, 1232, 4232, 1232 | 4232, 1232, 4232, 1232 | 4232, 1232, 4232, 1232 | 4232, 1343, 1343, 2454 | 3121, 5121, 5121, 5121|

Obviously different hands require different fingerings, but this is the fingering I use and it works pretty well.

Not only have my left hand trouble, but I'm having trouble deriving a fingering for the left hand.

Here are the fingerings I have, and I welcoem suggestions [/b]
RH: 323, 4123, 1323, 4123 | 1323, 4123, 1323, 4123 | 1323, 4123, 1323, 4123 | 1323, 4123, 1323, 4123 | 1323, 1535, 1434, 1535 | 1434, 2123, 4123, 4212

LH: 232, 1232, 4232, 1232 | 4232, 1232, 4232, 1232 | 4232, 1232, 4232, 1232 | 4232, 1232, 1232, 1232 | 1232, 5121, 5121, 5121 |

What speed are you planning to take the Presto?

Best wishes,
Matthew

i just started to learn this one (although learned half way through before) and thought that this could be good for me to compare my fingering with others here. anyway, i just did the fingering over bar 28-33, let's see if this is any different from all yours:

RH: 434 5323 1323 4212 | 1434 5323 2434 5323 | 5434 5323 1323 4212 | 1434 5323 1323 4212 | 1434 2545 1434 1545 | 1545 3212 4212 3212

LH: 5 | 232 1343 5343 1232 | 4232 1343 5242 1343 | 5232 1343 5343 1232 | 4232 1343 2454 1343 | 2121 5121 5121 5121

My ultimate speed for the Presto section is at least M.M. 150 or more. I am going to re-learn the Presto section with a better fingering. Perhaps then I will be better able to perform with more control.... Any tips as in i.e. finger exercises....

Signa's fingering is excellent. IF you play this in "time", I mean count it exactly to the beats you will discover that the piece will "hold together very nicely and practice it slowly keeping the fingers pads on the keys after one is depressed and not making BIG FINGER MOVEMENTS in other words "palm" the passages. Keep you fingers and hand hoovering over the keys ...
This is a wonderful piece and the fugue No. 2 is one of the finest fugues Bach ever composed.

This is a really useful discussion - I'm slaving over this passage myself at the moment. Slow practice works well but even so my hands are in prone to coming apart when building up even a little momentum - it's a bit hit-and-miss still.

Another problem I have is with the last three groups of semiquavers in the penultimate bar in the right hand on the fingerings given above. I'm using the 1545 1434 1545 fingering given above but find it hard to keep this even given the relative weakness of my fingers 5 and 4. I tend to snatch at the 545 434 and 545 while my left is more solid here.

Any tips for finger strngthening and coordination appreciated too!
