Lots of CD's- Rachmaninoff, Mozart, Chopin, Liszt, and heaps of sheet music for sightreading and repertoire too. And an iPod to put all my recordings on!! I hope Santa's nice to me this year! \:\)

Hamelin's 2007 recording of the Alkan Concerto for Solo Piano.

My wish item is some type of recorder. I was thinking of a Zoom H4 but it looks like I may be going for the Edirol. I'm still trying to decide.

I already went to the shops on Saturday and bought my Xmas present to myself:

Contains Opp.3 & 10. Some very charming pieces in there, although I bought it principally for the Elegy, which I heard 'performed' by Rachmaninoff on a Bösendorfer CEUS Imperial some weeks ago, via a protocol-converted piano roll made by the composer himself... so a Russianly Romantic Christmas to you all \:\)

A Roland HP-207 or equivalent. Chances are I won't get it, in which case, I'm off shopping for myself on the 26th! \:D Also, lots of opera CDs & videos (my collection is quite pitiful). And Edirol would be nice, but I didn't even bother asking for that (was pushing my luck on the digital piano), and a nice set of every day dishes.

A score of Korngold's Left Hand Concerto would be nice. It's not the most perfect of concerti, but I'd so love to read through it!
Oh, and the elimination of the need to sleep would be great, but I suppose that's wishing for too much (along with peace in the Middle East)...

Santa came through for Jason. (No life "partner" of course, but Santa, nor anyone else ever promised me anything.)

Yet the score duly arrived Christmas day. Santa is rather more high-tech these says... he sent me a pdf.

I got a mug with poor half dead Chopin's photograph on it. I think that will turn into a pen holder. Somehow having coffee in it seems disrespectful.

I got Argerich's Bach CD, her new DVD with the Schumann piano concerto, Ogdons recording of Opus Clavicembalisticum, the movie Copying Beethoven, and a movie on Rachmaninoff called a Harvest of Sorrow. I was also signed up for a pipe organ camp and the Kimmel Center in Philly for next year. And that was just the music presents.

More or less, Santa came through, more or less, for me as well. I asked him to get me into Harvard, and while he couldn't bring that Christmas because the application deadline is the 7th of January anyways, he still got me an interview at UPenn for a PhD Program.

Have you ever felt like your entire being was radiating happiness?

Besides that, I was given 900$ in test fees, application fees, score reporting fees, and other miscellaneous expenses associated with applying to graduate school, some musical recordings, thermal underwear ( \:D ), a Canon videocamera, lots of candy, and promises to pay for my Henle order + the Durand edition of the Debussy etudes.

Unfairly exceptional of a Christmas that may be, these gifts are all overshadowed by being with my whole family in Paris. At the same time, however, even that seems far less significant compared to hearing from UPenn.

I've only had one thing on my wish list for the last 10 years, and once again, I was stiffed by Santa. Mary J. Blige. It appears that I'll have to go out and take matters into my own hands! ;\)

Yes I have. But only after I started to sweat profusely did I realize that the seat I was sitting on was right in front of a radiator. \:D
