Once during a concert at Carnegie Hall, the violinist Rachmaninoff was playing with lost his place in the music and whispered to Rachmaninoff, "Where are we?" Rachmaninoff replied, in all seriousness, "Carnegie Hall".

Lots of CD's- Rachmaninoff, Mozart, Chopin, Liszt, and heaps of sheet music for sightreading and repertoire too. And an iPod to put all my recordings on!! I hope Santa's nice to me this year!

Hamelin's 2007 recording of the Alkan Concerto for Solo Piano.
I REALLY hope I get it.

My wish item is some type of recorder. I was thinking of a Zoom H4 but it looks like I may be going for the Edirol. I'm still trying to decide.

I already went to the shops on Saturday and bought my Xmas present to myself: Contains Opp.3 & 10. Some very charming pieces in there, although I bought it principally for the Elegy, which I heard 'performed' by Rachmaninoff on a Bösendorfer CEUS Imperial some weeks ago, via a protocol-converted piano roll made by the composer himself... so a Russianly Romantic Christmas to you all -Michael B.

A Roland HP-207 or equivalent. Chances are I won't get it, in which case, I'm off shopping for myself on the 26th! Also, lots of opera CDs & videos (my collection is quite pitiful). And Edirol would be nice, but I didn't even bother asking for that (was pushing my luck on the digital piano), and a nice set of every day dishes.

I wish Santa would find me a score of Moszkowski's Course Folle, because I can't seem to locate one anywhere.

A score of Korngold's Left Hand Concerto would be nice. It's not the most perfect of concerti, but I'd so love to read through it! Oh, and the elimination of the need to sleep would be great, but I suppose that's wishing for too much (along with peace in the Middle East)...

(No life "partner" of course, but Santa, nor anyone else ever promised me anything.) Yet the score duly arrived Christmas day. Santa is rather more high-tech these says... he sent me a pdf.
