Hi, i just turned 16 and had passed my grade 8 test 2 years back. I stopped playing the piano after i went to my private highschool, and after some youtube inspirational videos (la campanella ), i decided that i'd give a go at that piece and get back into the piano groove again. I miss my piano . ANYWAY, on to the important stuff, what are some good tips to help me practice la campanella? My fingers are quite rusty...and i had one small question, i know it doesn't matter but when you play the right hand, jumping between octaves like 5 meausures into the piece, do you think it's better to use your thumb and pinky? or your thumb and your fourth finger? ON the piece, one part had a 5 on top, and another place started it with a 4...so i know it's really preference, but i still get the feeling that theres a difference when you play the octave hopping with the fourth finger or with your pinky. ANyway, if you have any other comments/tip on how to help, please answer away! I really need help with this song because i am in mad love with it, and it's sort of the song that's really hooking me back into playing the piano after dropping it for academic reasons.

Assuming you have hands the size the rest of us, I suggest thumb and pinky for those large leaps.

it's not a song, it's an étude, and take at least a year or so to learn it...

you see, this happens once in a blue moon, the threads I get in the list suddenly appear to be fossiles, I don't know how to prevent that, but thanks for letting me know, and, hey, what the hack?

It's weird isn't it - the date order has occasionally flipped for me, too, for no apparent reason. The page was then full of names I didn't recognise, and I thought there had been a massive influx of new members. If you're a PW addict as I am, the minute I see a new(?) thread(s) with a dozen - or more - posts since I last looked (two hours ago?), I know that either someone has revived an old thread or the date order has flipped. Regards,
