Rimsky-Korsakov originally wrote this piece for orchestra for the Tale of Tsar Saltan, that's correct. The two most famous transcriptions are by Rachmaninoff and another by Cziffra. The Rachmaninoff version can be found at www.imslp.org . Cheers!

FLfever [/b] Yeah, you definitely sound like a professional. Is this a dig at my status as an amateur? I'd like to think I'm an amateur in a similar sense to the way that Christopher Shih or those in the Amateur Van Cliburn Competition are amateurs, not in the sense of a dabbler or a tinkerer. Amateurity does not necessitate mediocrity.

FWIW, dilettante was originally not pejorative, either; like amateur, it meant a lover of the arts or science. Steven

Back to topic, Could anyone help me how to play Rachmaninoff with correct fingering? Thanks, It would be greatly appreciated. FLfever

Originally posted by franzliszt4ver: Back to topic, Could anyone help me how to play Rachmaninoff with correct fingering?[/b] I don't think anyone would claim that they can offer fingerings that are "correct" for anyone but themselves. Even the suggested fingerings of professional editors are suggestions. If you need ideas about fingerings for specific passages, it would be best to mention the bar number(s), the fingerings you've tried and also why you found them not to be satisfactory. Please don't think I'm being rude or unhelpful. Perhaps there's a language issue that can lead to misunderstanding; I just wanted to point out that "correct" is probably not the correct word to use.
