Debussy comes to mind, but sellecting ONE PIECE? but my all time favorite composer is Greig, hehe I see you are from Norway... I have been to Trondheim and hell. I am a huge fan of his lyric pieces. I auditioned with Notturno just last month. I just get such a rush listening and playing Grieg... especally his slower quiet pieces.

And chopin, for sure! :3hearts: A simple nocturne would do it, if played with musicality and sensitivity. And of course, love!

Sure, "Vexations" is a very romantic piece.

I might not be a girl (you tend to notice these things as you get older >_>), but the 2nd mvmt of the Grieg concerto is very romantic.

I have played Chopin Waltz nr 10 (op. 69. nr 2) and Chopin Waltz nr 3 among Chopins slower pieces. What do you think about them?

Since I have a boyfriend I figure I can join this discussion...

If he could play Rachmaninov's Prelude #4 in D Maj. I'd be blown away. Swoon.

Ah, good. I am going to be playing something for a theatre full of very lovely women on Friday, and I need to decide what I am going to play. ;\)

Would it be a good idea to stay away from Shostakovich? \:D

What about Chopin's Raindrop Prelude?
Or the Waltz in A Minor, Op. 34 No. 2?

Not the Raindrop...too predictable, depends what sort of girls they are! I would like Rachmaninov, Debussy and Bartok. I do like Chopin, but that ones a bit too girly for my liking! :-)

Too girly? How about the Revolutionary Etude, then? ;\)

The Shostakovich I was thinking of maybe doing are the Preludes, Op. 34 Nos. 1 & 16.

recital or something? good luck. btw, I'm with Katey, Shostakovich preludes are lovely. There's also this one Rachmaninov piece that I LOVE. It's elegy, I think it's op. 2 no, 4, but I can't remember. It sounds very dark and somewhat angst-ridden (not that Rachmaninov wrote things like that very often or anything... lol) but it's SO beautiful.

Eric Satie, Gymnopedie No.1. It will make them sigh with longing and is not difficult. You'll recognize it when you hear it, type it in Amazon and listen to a clip.

I hear sighs when I play that Satie stuff, Elena, but I never recognized them as the longing types.

FYI, the last time I typed in "longing" as a search keyword, I got TONS of E-mail ads.

O Elena I love the gymnopedie no. 1! But it is a little overplayed... it's wonderful if it's played well. I don't know,if a guy were playing as though he were drunk or retarded just wouldn't work for me :p lol

I think your piece Romance No.1 was a nice piece!

Ok, you are probably right. The sound is not so good and that is maybe because it sounds midi like. I tried to record a piec with WMP and the quality is not that good...
