Sure, "Vexations" is a very romantic piece.

I might not be a girl (you tend to notice these things as you get older >_>), but the 2nd mvmt of the Grieg concerto is very romantic.

I have played Chopin Waltz nr 10 (op. 69. nr 2) and Chopin Waltz nr 3 among Chopins slower pieces. What do you think about them?

Since I have a boyfriend I figure I can join this discussion...
If he could play Rachmaninov's Prelude #4 in D Maj. I'd be blown away. Swoon.

Ah, good. I am going to be playing something for a theatre full of very lovely women on Friday, and I need to decide what I am going to play. Would it be a good idea to stay away from Shostakovich? What about Chopin's Raindrop Prelude? Or the Waltz in A Minor, Op. 34 No. 2?

Too girly? How about the Revolutionary Etude, then? The Shostakovich I was thinking of maybe doing are the Preludes, Op. 34 Nos. 1 & 16.

It's elegy, I think it's op. 2 no, 4, but I can't remember. It sounds very dark and somewhat angst-ridden (not that Rachmaninov wrote things like that very often or anything... lol) but it's SO beautiful.

Eric Satie, Gymnopedie No.1. It will make them sigh with longing and is not difficult. You'll recognize it when you hear it, type it in Amazon and listen to a clip. Elena http://www.pianofourhands.com

O Elena I love the gymnopedie no. 1! But it is a little overplayed... it's wonderful if it's played well. I don't know,if a guy were playing as though he were drunk or retarded just wouldn't work for me :p lol

Hi ChopinLives81!
I think your piece Romance No.1 was a nice piece! Not bad to bee composed by yourself. But I think you should get a better piano ;-)

Ok, you are probably right. The sound is not so good and that is maybe because it sounds midi like. I tried to record a piec with WMP and the quality is not that good...

You're right, although i did perform it myself, i could only record it in midi format. I then converted it to .wma

I'm not a girl, but I'd say a Chopin Nocturne for sure. Maybe Chopin's Etude No.3 Opus 10. Or possibly his Ballade No.1 in G Minor. Chopin's Waltz in C-Sharp Minor is also quite romantic. I find Rachmaninoff's Prelude No.5, Op.32 in G Major quite enchanting. A pretty girl once played Chopin's Nocturne in E Minor Op.72 No.1 for me, and that had me captivated.

ChopinLives, I took a look at your romance. Very beautiful, if I must say so myself, but I found that you underused the pedal.
If it was me, my foot would be mashing that thing. It sounds very beautiful though, if not a bit complicated in certain parts.

thanks for the comment SIN but again that a midi so the sound is as good...the pedalling is also affected. I'll try and record an mp3 or even video when i get a chance

Oh, was that a midi? I thought so, but I wasn't sure. Still really good.
One thing though: at 2:43 into the piece, when the right hand plays the second grace note of that phrase, the top note should be 1 half-step/1 whole-step lower. It really sticks out like a sore thumb.
