Yeah, i love this piece. And i also like Yundi Li's facial expressions when hes playing (that smile that comes out every now and then). Although it did get annoying in parts where they were showing his face and i wanted to see his hands.

I'm not sure whose etude I like better, Li's or Kissin's.

Don't click on the little icon on the bottom that expands the image to full screen size. It decouples the audio and video. He kept playing for a full minute after the sound ended. smirk

I've heard few performances of this Etude that are as musical as this one; not just viruosity for the sake of virtuosity. There are moments of sheer pianistic beauty in this performance. On the other hand, I don't go out of my way to listen to recordings of this piece.

Regards,
you should listen to the paganini violin concerto no.2 on which this etude is based on.

I'm deffinately keeping my eye on that man. An extraordinary pianist, both musically and technically.

Ah this is from his performance of Chopins Concerto no 1, same building anyway. I have the DVD. He is a brilliant pianist. I have to say I prefer kissin's Liszt interpretations tho.

Actually I have this movie at home. I bought it in China, it was together with the "Yundi Li: Liszt" CD. Together with some other pieces recorded during a concert in Japan and an interview of him smile .

How often is Yundi Li compared with Kissin? I guess quite often, as they are both young pianists who are at the world top smile .
Just read an article about them a few hours ago smile .

i don't know about that. kissin has been playing for a while, and has released numerous albums as well as performed with major orchestras. yundi on the other hand is still a young boy who's just getting started with his career. i wouldn't say he's at the world top (yet), but i see more potential in yundi than i do in kissin

1. i dont see why lang lang is considered china's best when i think yundi li's playing is so much better.

2. i have to say i like yundi li's interpretation better than kissin's. (its because i dislike kissin's hair.. just kidding)

3. i do, however, like the horowitz interpretation better than yundi li's. but then again, yundi li should get to that level at some point.
