Hi folks,

Due to some business needs, I'm hopping on a plane tomorrow morning for Singapore. Looks like I'll be in town for a couple of weeks, perhaps longer.

I would love to meet Magnezium, Ben Foo, Rachelle and any other Singaporean pianist while I'm there. (No guarantees that I can impress you with my playing, but I will guarantee to be brave enough to play for you if there is a piano handy...).

I think I'll be staying at Westin Hotel, (but I could also end up at the Sheraton), and I'm not real sure how much internet access I'll have. So, anyone interested in getting together? We could have a "Singapore Piano Group" gathering some evening, or we could simply meet for lunch / dinner somewhere. If so, please reply on this forum and I'll try to check back here before I leave in the morning. If you don't hear back from me here, try leaving a message at the Westin and/or Sheraton for me (Dan Graham).

Regards to all,
Dan

Sorry I missed Pascal. Turns out I will be in the Sheraton Towers on Scotts Road. Their phone is 65 737-6888 for anyone else that may be able to meet.

Magnezium, good luck on your exams!

Dan

Greetings all,

I'm looking into a venue for getting together where we will have the opportunity to play some music, and I'll post here when I find something.

Regards,
Dan

P.S. Rachelle, it was nice speaking with you last night. I'm looking forward to meeting you and others in person.

D.

Hi Dan!! Welcome To Singapore!! So i assume you are on a business trip here... I'm sorry for replying so late as i was rather busy this week...It's a pity you came rather early or else my new Kawai piano would be already delivered to my house, and then we can gather and exchange pointers and have some fun on the piano! O.k, i'll see if i can squeeze some time in and hope to meet up with all of you. Is there any way i can contact the rest?

Hoping to see you guys...

Ben Foo

Hello Ben, Rachelle, and Magnezium,

As Rachelle hinted at in her last post, my trip (which was initially put on with almost no notice) was also shortened with very little notice. As I write this, I am back home in Colorado and VERY jet lagged.

I had a great time meeting Rachelle and getting to know her a bit on Sunday. Unfortunately, we did not have any luck finding a piano to play, so we simply talked about music, pianos, piano teachers, and life in general while wandering thru some of the music stores in Ngee Ann City.

Sorry I was unable to meet with Ben or Magnezium. I certainly hope to visit Singapore again at some point. My wife and I are still planning a trip there when she finishes her degree so if no other business needs pull me back before then, I hope to see everyone in the Summer of 2003.

A special thanks to Rachelle for meeting me and showing me around a bit. I think it is extraordinary that people who have never met can begin a friendship at this site and then follow thru 1/2 way around the world (for me anyway) by meeting as we did.

Regards to all,
Dan

It has been fortunate to know you guys in this forum, and that I always apppreciate all the encouraging words and advice that keep me to continue falling in love with music. Don't you all agree with me? smile

Hi Ben,

Yes, I will certainly come back. The question is how soon! Don't feel bad about not getting in touch with me, my trip was a whirlwind from start to finish. I had only 1 day notice before I had to leave the U.S., an then the return trip was also moved up unexpectedly. It's hard to do much serious planning with that type of schedule.

I've always enjoyed Singapore, and usually adjust to the humidity within a couple of days of my arrival. I find the people to be very friendly, and I enjoy the all of the green landscaping and the wonderful food.

I'm sorry we couldn't all get together. It is great fun to meet with other pianists and play music for each other. Definitely we'll have to plan that for my return.

Regards,
Dan
