I recently had a neighbor of mine over to play for him. He said that I played very well, that I had progressed a lot since he had last heard me play. (Which was at his house on my casio keyboard well over a year ago). Anyway, I have though about haveing even more people over from the neighborhood for a private recital. If you've ever done this, tell me, how did it go? Was it easier to do than a normal recital, since you already know everyone who is there to hear you play? Or is it even more nerve racking, since you know that if you slip up during a regular recital, you will most likely never see the people in the crowd again in your life but if you slip up here, well, you see these people almost every day. And how big of a hassal was oganizing it? I mean, did you turn it into a small party with food and all or did you just have them over for the playing and them send them back home again afterword. I need some adivce here! Thankyou.

What I meant to say is that when you have a regular recital, you will most likely never see MOST of the people in the crowd again in your like, becuase it is open to the public, but I'm sure that some friends/family will show up.

I had a big Christmas party on Sunday with about 40 people. I played carols for everyone. Of course, I have played these songs 50 times without error, and now playing for people I messed up several times. Here is the feedback I got from them.

I notice the mistakes far more than they did. Even if they heard a flub, it didn't matter. They were just enjoying the music and realized I am not a virtuoso. They were so appreciative to be included and serenaded so to speak. Even if you mess up, you won't have to hang your head in shame when you see them.

Just have a good time and don't worry too much.

I agree with Marc.

I've also done this before and the family seemed more appreciative to hear me play then anything else. It is a fun thing to do during the Christmas lunch and you could also invite other family members to play. The won't necessarily be looking for a mistake-free performance, even if they are musicians! I think they will just be happy to hear you play and be grateful they have some nice music to eat to!

Most of all you should just have fun and not worry about making mistakes. Remember you're playing for family not for music competition judges!

Just have fun and relax! :-)
