I Have A Huge Problem!

Seriously, I really screwed myself this time. With the SAT/ACT tests, along with three AP classes this semester, I forgot to send out all of my summer academy applications. I really had my heart set on going to either Interlochen or Aspen Music Festival (money isn't a problem). Apparently, I missed both by quite a while, so I need to find another good summer academy. Do you guys know of any good camps that haven't passed their deadline yet? Thanks so much you guys. (btw, I already have an audition CD, and I live in Los Angeles)
Thanks again, Pumpkinhead

Yeah, I was thinking of that one too! In fact, Idyllwild is like an hour or two away from my house. Nice. Is that camp very recommended, or has anyone ever gone there? Thanks anyways

Thanks anyways Pumpkinhead [/b] I went there for summers 99 and 00 It's pretty good, tho not on the level of those other ones, but I would definetly reccomend it. Do you live in the Covina/Riverside area?

Wow, thanks for the New Paltz recommendation apionnone, I'm really considering it now. Based on their site, the faculty look very professional, and I'd probably learn a lot more there than at Idyllwild. Have any of you guys ever gone to either?

Pumpkinhead, Please check this link, which lists quite a few summer music programs in the U.S. http://www.tcu-cliburn.org/usasummer.asp I only know a few on the list. The piano program at the Music Academy of the West is headed by Jerome Lowenthal of Julliard. It's a boarding program of various instruments, so in that sense it's quite like the Aspen. The Colby Institute was founded by Anthony Di Bonaventura, a fine pianist, not sure though if he's still teaching there. Hope this helps and good luck! BTW, I'm a new member of Piano World--very glad to have found this place.

Music Academy of the West is almost impossible to get accepted to, considering it's free if you get in. I think they take a total of 7 pianists, and I'm sure they have some connections to get in.

The Academy is more competitive, as apianonne stated, in the sense that it's down to 1 piano teacher (from 2), and can accept fewer students. In any case, good luck to all of you searching for a rewarding musical experience this summer!

You might also check out the Indiana University piano academy.. Their deadline is April 8th. It isn't interlochen, but I have heard good things about it.
