Don't mind the title, it's something I just thought of, but I have a problem.
It's been a little over 6 months since I started playing the piano again and let me tell you, I really surprised my family. I even played for them during the Holidays. I'm now able to play anything by ear(which is exactly what I wanted).
Well, I'm in a bit of a rut. For the past 3 days, I've sat at the keyboard trying to play some music. Well, even up until today, it feels like I've hit a wall. Now, don't get me wrong! This happens every now and then. Some days I feel really relaxed at the keyboard and play what ever I feel, but on some days like today I fill stiff and find it hard to enjoy playing. Playing the piano is something I will continue my entire life and won't give it up for anyone. I know it's what I will teach my kids someday! I'm passionate about music!

This is my 'theory'. I think that throughout the day, our concentration levels vary. Logic would dictate that in the morning, you've just awoken from a good night's sleep (presumably) and that the you'll be the most mentally alert in the morning (as opposed to be both physically and mentally exhausted after a hard day at the office). Try a little experiment and start playing in the morning. Another thought that occured to me is that maybe you just need a rest. Perhaps you are mentally and/or physically fatigued even in the morning (maybe you don't sleep well at night). I would think that would have a lot to do with concentration. I think the rut that you're going through is more commonly called frustration. I can't imagine any of us that don't experience that from time to time. Maybe you need to take a break from it for a few days, and hopefully return refreshed and ready to go again. Again, just some theories. Try it. What do you have to lose?

[/b] Actually, the last theory you've stated makes sense! There would be days where I'd practice or play for over 2 hours almost everyday. This is how it's been since I've started playing at the keys. That's more than enough time for anybody!
