I'm just excited and thought I would share with you guys. I will be seeing the Cleveland Orchestra with Alfred Brendel as the pianist. They are performing Beethoven's 3rd piano concerto and Brahms Symphony No. 4. Yay!

Wish Mr. Brendel a happy birthday. He'll be 77 tomorrow, 5 Jan.

what a wonderful treat! He's retiring this year you know. You're one of the lucky few to hear him this year.

Brendel is retiring this year? So is the Guarneri String Quartet. We'll be losing some good artists.

Wow - two incredibly wonderful works - you're in for a treat!!!

What you are is an accident of birth. What I am, I am through my own efforts. There have been a thousand princes and there will be a thousand more. There is one Beethoven.

When is the concert? [Edit] Looks like it's 1 March and 2 March, 2008.

I hope that you will report back your impressions to us. It's always so interesting to hear peoples' reactions to their very first symphony concert.

Regards,

Enjoy the concert! And hope everyone in the audience remembers to TURN OFF their g*dd*mn cellphones!

She was with me even in my grave
When the last of my friends turned away,
And she sang like the first storm heaven gave.
Or as if flowers were having their say.

Oh, Pianoloverrr, enjoy, enjoy. He is one of my favorite pianists, nobody plays Schubert like him. I haven't seen him on stage since a Hollywood Bowl concert about 25 years ago, but the memory still lingers on.
