Hello, I'm looking for a good teacher to study with in the Chicago area, preferably a professor from surrounding schools (Northwestern, CCPA, Depaul etc.) Any recommendations? I'm trying to really step my playing up a notch and get someone who will focus on my technique etc. I'm going to be a junior this year, so I am actively thinking about college. Please help, I know many of you have a lot of knowledge and acquaintances. P.S. I haven't visited the forum for awhile.

Suggestions for you...If you cannot get recommendations...Call the colleges and ask who will teach you private lessons, and tell them what you need from the professor, technique or whatever you want. Another option is to call your local symphony as they know the outstanding piano teachers in your area and you can ask them for recommendations. I took both of these routes as learning to play different piano styles was my hobby for 40 years and I studied with many piano teachers as a result... after my classical piano studies... I am a real piano addict... same as a golf addict I guess? Sandy B

Thanks for your help, it turns out I was accepted to study with Emilio del Rosario, a great professor from Roosevelt University... Though his other students are quite extraordinary pianists heh it makes me feel mediocre. But I'm sure he'll assist me in catching up.

Thanks a lot guys... I'm finally beginning to do what I should've like 4 years ago... That is practice practice practice, and find a great teacher to study with! He showed me a recording of one of his pupils, she was the only American finalist in the Chopin Competition... just spectacular stuff. Sandy - I sure hope that one day that'll come true. But I can't get ahead of myself yet - I didn't exactly start off being the 3 year old child prodigy
