does anyone know where i can find kabalevsky's second piano concerto!? i've tried calling the places listed on the sheet music resources thread, and i've called around the valley here. but it seems to have slipped away from existence. there must be some obscure russian publisher or something of that nature where it can still be found...does anyone have any idea on how to hunt this down? i'm about to call the university libraries in my area...

Well you sound so desperate that perhaps you're willing to see if Patelson's, here in NYC has it and if they'll ship it. They usually have what I'm looking for.
They are at (212) 582-5840.

You may also want to try the following: www.halleonard.com or my favorite standby out of Wisconsin is Walker Music (414) 774-1067. They ship anywhere and can get just about anything. Good luck in your search! Anne

If you have a decent music store around with sheet music supply you should have no trouble in finding a copy of the score. Kab 2 is not considered an obscure piece. Here in Denver, Colorado I can almost order anything from a local music store called DJ Music Box. Yeh, the store name sounds odd...
Best regards.

hint: you might have better luck finding russian composers if you spell their names properly. it's shostakovich. patelson's does business all over the country. many of the pianists here in the northern rockies order most of their music from them.

[/b] Well there is: Dmitri Kabalevsky Born: 30 December 1904, St. Petersburg (Russia) Died: 16 February 1987, Moscow (Russia) And then there is: Dmitri Shostakovich Born: 25 September 1906, St. Petersburg (Russia) Died: 9 August 1975, Moscow (Russia) Two very different composers.

Hey, speaking of Shostakovich, I heard his second concerto on the way to work this morning. (St.Louis has the best class. station!) His son was conducting and his grandson was at the keyboard. Just a little "FYI" for y'all. I especially enjoyed the second movement. Have a great weekend.
