If one were needing to find a teacher to assist one with the development of technique, how would you advise one to go about finding such a teacher?

On behalf of such a one, thanks.

First try teachers from Eastern European countries including Russia.

I'd be glad to. The question is finding them - how would you go about finding an Eastern European or other qualified teacher?

Florida has a Music Teachers Association
http://www.fmta.org/. They could give you a list of members in your area.

I'd be careful about seeing some teachers from russia. Some of their hand techniques for dexterity do more damage than they think. I knew a guy who could curl his fingers up over his knuckles and it is going to do him damage in 10 years time. He's only 18 (I think) but he is going to bugger his fingers up.

Even all the other teachers tell him NOT to do it.

Hope you're still out there.. I'm just wondering why Eastern European and Russian teachers might be recommended over others?

P.S. I've found a piano teacher. She is Russian - studied from age 6 to age 24, graduating from Moscow Conservatory of Music!
