I was thinking of trying to get a job at some of the local piano bars here in my town, and I was wondering as to what's the standard fare in terms of repertory for a job like that. As of right now, I only play the non-classical music which I really like, and that ain't much:

Jellyroll Morton: The Crave
Fats Waller: Whitechapel, from The London Suite

I know I need quite a bit more. Any suggestions?

Standards by Rodgers and Hart/Hammerstein, Jimmy Van Heusen, Duke Ellington, etc...

I'd head to a music store and look for a fake book with a lot of standards or old broadway favorites in it.

i would imagine how it would sound by playing a few Bach's inventions in between? i heard that on radio not long ago, a celloist playing Bach only in a local bar, which caused quite a stir then.
