Because this guy can.

I think this is just an awesome use of modern technology for our (the youtube audience) benefit.

(And yes, Sam, I did just completely imitate your style of posting topics \:D )

I agree. It's a very cool idea, and probably a lot of fun to create. Very humorous, too -- "Accompaniment loading" ... \:D

(And yes, Mr. Loki, my style is registered trademark, patent #530751, so you should be hearing from my legal expert soon.)

I'm doing something similar, the idea of using technology to be able to play concertos in ways that most amateurs couldn't, more on that sometime later.

I love the "Accompanist Loading" screen \:\) Still, though, I'd rather hear him play with an orchestra. I don't really like "two piano" reductions of concertos.

I'm sure there will be someone out there who will find this to be a blasphemous undertaking, though.

In he 1970s and 80s, and even into the 90s, I would record the second piano part numerous times and play along with it. This way, I had a good idea what the orchestra might be doing. When I was 14, I decided to learn both the Grieg and Schumann concerti during the same summer. I used the Serkin/Ormandy LP of the Schumann and put both small speakers on both sides of the music rack of my Baldwin 'L' and played along for hours. After a while, I sounded like Serkin, but no matter how much we sound like we're trying to imitate someone, we end up sounding like yourselves in the end.

i was under the impression that there were CDs available of piano concerti where the orchestral part was projected over one speaker and the piano over the other... so you could turn down speaker A for instance and play along with speaker B.

am i wrong?
