I stumbled across a piano program that is apparently a big seller on the internet. it is called " Jump! Piano discovery". It went into great detail about how the student will "truly learn how to play the piano " through the inteactive teacher and the hundred-dollar electronic keyboard that comes with it.
What if a student has questions? How can you teach a passion, a love for the piano through electronic images that are " teachers"? how can you teach tone on a keyboard? This product advertises itself as the best way to teach lessons, so you "don't have to deal with those private teachers".
"At the end of each chapter, students get to be the featured soloist in the Performance Hall with the Discovery Island Orchestra. You can perform the piece with both hands as written or with just the right or left hand separately. You may choose any tempo." umm, this is not the way it works in real life. what if a student gets up to actually play for REAl people? will they be absolutly humiliated, or stage frightned?
Needless to say, this is very upsetting.
