Me, playing Etude tableaux op.39 no.1

http://www5.streamload.com/Nodes/Node.asp?cxInstID=54953057&nodeID=20566810

or

--> http://www.sadarnoomsby.com/danor.mp3

Ok, the quality is kind of poor but decent enough to listen to hehehe

played on a kawai (kk¿?) an old model, before RX series.

Well that's it. Enjoy .. ;\) ;\)

pd: I didn't edit the track at all. So there's a little mistake at the start: I stop after 1 sec, and then start again hehehehe, also the tune seems to be lowered somehow by the recording.

Very good (and very clean, too). Just out of curiosity, what do you think this is the etude/problem in this piece? To me, it seems to be a study in texture.

filigrana etude! jajaja

one of the difficulites --> correct "voicing" of the rapid notes so you can understand the harmony. It's like to produce effects of waves?

also there are some tremolos and rythmic sections. But the main is about those waves and atmopshere. I would like to record it on a better piano.

Agreed, and I guess that's what I wanted to hear a little more of. Sometimes it felt a little too clean and I wanted to hear gestures instead of a group of sextuplets. Not that my opinion means anything, though. Great stuff, post more if you can.

Well... after being playing it for a while. I realized that, besides the waves and atmopshere, it's also very important the rythm of the left hand. It makes the etude more organic, because it's an "ostinato" like that is present in the whole etude in different forms. And no one really cares about it when playing this. Maybe that makes it "clean" to you (of course now that i listened to, right hand can be more dinamic on those sextuplets)

Sorry I missed this thread first time around! Very nice work.

I always felt it was an etude about sound and texture within that (somewhat) awkward figuration. I remember when I played it that it wasn't about finding and bringing out a melody, but that the wave created by the figuration was the melody. I remember working a lot on pedaling - trying to get the notes in the wave to wax and wane fuller and thinner.

It's really a wonderful piece, tricky in spots here and there, and Danor's performance is really nicely put together. Cool!

I'm actually planning on putting it on my program for next year along with the d minor etude from Op. 33 and a few preludes. (Probably Op. 32#10, 11, 12, maybe some others...)
