If it is possible for a piece of music to -at once- possess a terrifying intensity, yet sublime beauty, then here it is. For some reason this mov't has always affected me very profoundly, I always feel a mite bit out of breath and glassy eyed at the close. Dino, magnificent job. Your tempo was exactly how I've always envisioned it, and the rhythmic thrust (especially when the first mov't theme is quoted) was spot on. I'll watch the other videos very soon...

Great job Dino. That 4th movement of the Prokofiev 6th Sonata is very special to me as well and your playing of it was excellent. Keep up the good work.

Dino, I hesitate to offer this comment on Aufschwung because I never learned more than the first few measures, and you play it with more skill than I could hope to.
Strictly in the sense of "for what it's worth," then, it felt somewhat heavy to me. This is perhaps my favorite piece from Op. 12, and my own personal concept of it has always been rhapsodic and rapturous. The title, "Soaring," suggests lightness, and I honestly feel that it would benefit from a lighter touch and tone (and perhaps greater dynamic contrasts) overall.
Thanks for sharing the links to your videos. They were enjoyable and commendable.

Thank you for your comments! sotto voce, you have an interesting suggestion! I agree about the greater dynamic contrasts which in my performance are not expressed enough. I see it more as a dramatic piece, considering all of the three I performed at the concert. As you notice, I performed the pieces in the following order: Des Abends, Warum? and Aufschwung. I needed a big ending, therefore I changed my concept of Aufschwung slightly to fit the complete picture. Still, thanks for your comments I will consider them next time I perform these wonderful pieces. All the best, Dino.

Loved your Aufschwung performance. I used to be able to play that piece. By "used to" I mean I could play the notes at a tad bit slower tempo than what you're supposed to and my performance was a bit choppy and lacked feeling.
Enjoyed watching you play!
