Hello everyone!

It's been a while since I was here on the board. I hope everyone is
well.

I have been preparing my next piece of free sheet music and realized
that I haven't gotten much of a response from the "Rain" e-mail-out
and was wondering what you thought of it.

If you haven't had a chance to download it, "Rain" will be available
on my website, free till the end of March.

I would appreciate everyone's feedback.

Have a great day!

I quite enjoyed "Rain". It really does create that image of light, constant rain. I imagine a scene at dusk, with the two lovers out on the deck, in the hammock, gazing at the stars, with the light tinkling of the rain...

Or, as Berstein might suggest, there is no image at all (or a million different images). Just music. ;\)

Sam :

I'm curious : "gazing at the stars, with the light tinkling of the rain..." Where I come from, when it rains, you can't see the stars.

LOL.

Sorry, Bruce.

Music doesn't have to be logical, does it? ;\)

Hi Jerry,

Let me state up front that I'm also a composer and our approaches are significantly different. Also, you've done a great job of marketing yourself (you could definitely teach me a thing or two) and I liked your web site. I see that you're a member of the Delian Society (somebody should inform them regarding the spelling of renaissance). I understand and agree with the concept of tonal music, the music I write is tonal, but my harmonic sensibilities extend farther than what you demonstrate in Rain. Of course this isn't about me it's about your piece, so without further ado.

Your piece, Rain, is a nice simple piece of music with an obvious sentimental appeal. I'm sure it will be a popular piece.

If you're inclined toward something with more extended harmonies and affording an opportunity to show off your technique I hope you'll consider looking at my music. You can listen at the links below. Please enjoy.

Cheers,

Hello Steve,
Thank you for the comments.

I write in many different genres and styles. I have done film scoring type things as well that completely goes a different way harmonically. I even did a trailer for a videogame company in which I did all the sound including music, sound effects and voice overs. Some of that type of stuff is similiar to some of your music, as I am listening to "Yesterday is History" now.

"Rain" is a very simple "character piece". I have been doing these particular pieces for this free sheet music program of mine because they are short and easy to work with. I am also focusing on making it at a level that most students can play and understand in a relatively short amount of time. "Rain" has been one of the more simple pieces I have ever written.

Thank you for all of your nice comments about the site as well!

It's kind of funny that you were talking about stars.....

For those of you interested, I just released a new piece today, on my site, entitled "Among the Stars".

http://FreeSheetMusic.JAGMMP.COM

Let me know what you think of that one if you have the chance.

Thank you for your time.

I liked it. It reminded me of Massenet, and Sinding.
