Waltz 18 in the Chopin Henly. Measure 18, M21,M22,M23. What are these chords? What are the roots? How were they arrived at? I have deciphered the rest but I am not seeing some simple thing here and it has me stymied.

I would rather nip off the end of my little toe with a cigar cutter than work on theory but I am going to do what I have to do to advance.

Most collections only have 17 waltzes or less.
Only collections like the Henle would have
the extra waltzes. You'd need to post
the score or describe the chords for those
without the Henle to take a look at them
and see if they can interpret them.

For some reason I can't post any kind of graphics on this site no matter what I try. I don't know why there is no "browse" window here that you can't just enter your pics and text into. And Gyro, I can't believe that after over 9 years of classical you don't have a Henle of the chopin waltzes

Dear Mr. Sheepdip,

Be very careful with that cigar cutter.

The new Paderewski and Ekier editions are far more popular. Henle is very good, but it's by no means the only excellent edition, especially where Chopin is concerned.

I have the Alfred collection, which has 17
waltzes, and that's more than some other
popular collections. Most people will have
collections with 17 or fewer waltzes in
them. That's why no one can answer your
question here. Those extra waltzes in the Henle
may have been composed by other composers,
which is why they're not included in most other
collections.

Gyro,

I don't think thats why nobody can answer the question. I know darn well that plenty of people here have the Henle. It's probably a simple answer for them, they are waiting for me to figure it out by myself, sniff'
