When an Arpeggio appears in a piece, for example, in the beginning of Liszt's etude 'la campanella', (in the beginning) is the first note of the arpeggio started before the beat, so the last note of the arpeggio in the left hand ends with and when the right hand note starts, or is the first note of the arpeggio played with the right hand note, so the end of the arpeggio ends alone? A rolled chord would be the first scenerio I mentioned, but since this is a written in arpeggio, how should it be executed?

I always play an arpeggio with the final note landing on the beat. I can't, off-hand, think of an example where an arpeggio would be played otherwise, although there may be some. All the examples that come to mind, and there are several, seem to be played that way, not only in my mind, but also in the performances/recordings I've heard.

Thanks Bruce. Zelda, La campanella is a great piece, and although it is hard, it is easier than it looks, if you have the nerves to tackle it! Those leaps become second nature after a while, and it has been great fun working with it.
