But there are some work by Liszt just as hard as his etudes, f.eks. Hungarian Rhapsody nr.9, Mephisto-Waltz nr.1 and 2 (played by Andsnes, Liszt recital, 2001, recommended!), Danse Macabre (Totentanz), Grand Galop Chromatique etc.

.
I would have to say that the Paganini Etudes are harder than Chopin's and agree with campenella.

Hungarian Rhapsody No. 9 was kind of time consuming for me, but if you want a really hard Hungarian Rhapsody, play No. 10.

as for chopin... i think his op.10 no.7 is the hardest.. (i blame my carpal tunnel syndrome on it even though it's actually because i typed too much..) it's a lot of work for your right wrist.

and for the concerti, i feel that prokofiev's 'sounds' harder than the others

I didn't think Liszt's Paganini Etudes were harder than Chopin's - quite the reverse. They may sound harder, but that doesn't necessarily make them harder to play.

Wicked hard. But generally pianistic.

No to "Wicked hard" ?
No to "pianistic" ?
No to "generally" ?

(p.s. BTW, read Bernard/Phlebas' reports on your NYC trip. Looked like a blast. I hope your audition will prove successful.)

Hmm...maybe my technique is just weird, then. And I'll admit to only having tried book I.

Phlebas, I don't think its an Idaho accent, but its how we Gangstas talk. (Yes, I said we)

And I believe that Mr. Masta is from the Ghetto, not Idaho as he states in his profile!

I was referring to an old politically incorrect joke about ebonics. (I should be ashamed of myself)

I find most of DaMasta's posts offensive and feel they have no place in this forum.

As do I. When I first saw his post, I clicked on his profile and checked out his others. They're all the same. Offensive and inapropriate (sp?), especially for a family oriented forum. I have a feeling that if this isn't stopped soon it will be worse than the Steinway fiasco.

BruceD and jgoo, I think you may be missing the genius in DaMasta's poetry- it is suttle yet to the point.

Or maybe not..
