My piano teacher is looking for a coach. He has been a professional classical performer all his life, retired music professor. The folks he studied under and were skilled enough aren't around any more. He needs someone with very high experience level. Lives 40 miles west of Chicago, willing to go anywhere within the Chicago, middle to western Illinois, Madison/Milwaukee area for someone good. Please post or send me PM.
thanks

To find a top quality coach in classical piano: some options for you: Call local colleges... consider a call to your local symphony, usually they know where, near you, the top classical pianist are and have names and telephone numbers for you... your Steinway piano dealerships usually know where the local Steinway Concert Artists are, if off tour, who will coach, usually with their names and numbers, and, sometimes the Steinway concert artist will teach in a studio there at the Steinway dealership while off tour. I had one off tour at a Steinway dealership years ago. Good Luck... Cheers, Sandy B

i would guess that there're some traveling well known pianists performing in Chicago for some scheduled concerts, which might be the opportinities for some coaching lessons. you might have to contact their agents though, unless you have some personal contacts who know them.

One might try the Chicago downtown schools--or Northwestern--as I know my teacher coached some in her studio in the Fine Arts Building on Michigan Avenue. For a fine pianist with good qualifications a directory of the Fine Arts Building studios might be worthwhile. DePaul University, Chicago Musical College (changed name now I think) of Roosevelt University could be checked out! Good Luck. I feel the same way your teacher does--who could I go to for coaching that could do what they could?

Varcon,
You have great ideas: he's a retired music professor from Roosevelt, graduated from Northwestern, and worked many years as a ballet accompanist at the Fine Arts Building. I'll pass all suggestions on, who knows.
thanks

Humbly, I will be performing with the Rockford Symphony on April 26th--and plan to do something for Chicago's 'The Beautiful Sound' dealer when in the region. Have your teacher zip me an email to stay in touch--if I can arrange some time, I would be happy to coach your teacher during my visit. I will be in Rockford, so perhaps there might be more time then.
