Does anybody else agree with me that the 1st movement of Prokofiev's 1st Sonata sounds as though it could have flowed directly from the pen of Chopin?

Of course Prokofiev wrote it himself, but it sounds so much like Chopin...

haha, my teacher said pretty much the same thing. He's looking through it and goes "Hey, just like Chopin". However, there are a couple reasons that I can think of why this piece would resemble someone elses style and not have as much of the Prokofiev "quirkiness" that many of us have come to love and recognize him for: 1) it is his Op. 1, he still has not developed his own style and 2) im pretty sure it was composed as a "student piece" (i.e. he composed it for his schoolings) and it was more of a study in composition rather than anything else.

But those are just my guesses.
